Hiring Church House

Church House is available for hire by the local community.  Although it is linked to St John's Church, the Church House Committee are keen to make the hall available for community use as much as possible.  The hall is regularly used for private events as well as by local groups.

From Sherborne: Drive along the A30 heading for Henstridge.  You will enter Milborne Port with Crackmore Garage on your right-hand side.  Follow the road for about another 500yds to a turning on your right, just as the road starts to rise up.  Take the right turn and continue for about 60yds.  Church House is set back from the road on the left-hand side just before the church.  

From Henstridge: Drive along the A30 heading for Sherborne.  On arriving in Milborne Port, you will pass the Town Hall on your left.  Continue for about 200yds to a right turning.  Immediately after this is a road on the left.  Take the left turn and continue for about 60yds.  Church House is set back from the road on the left-hand side just before the church.


On-road parking is available in Bathwell Lane.

Main Hall

The Main Hall measures approximately 14m x 6m x 3.7m (L x W x H).  There used to be two sets of dividing doors in the hall and at the points where these doors used to be the width of the hall is reduced to 4m. 

Tables and chairs are available for use including:

Wi-Fi is available in the hall.

For a separate hire charge, there is a digital projector available - ideal for illustrated talks.

The Main Hall is wheelchair-accessible.

The legal maximum occupancy of the Main Hall is 100 people.  However, we suggest a maximum of around 40-50 for an indoor social event, or 70-80 for a seated talk/presentation.


The large Kitchen (use of which is charged for separately) is well equipped with: 

A catering hatch and separate door link the kitchen to the main hall.


The private enclosed Garden at the rear of Church House is available for the use of hirers of the Main Hall.  

This is a great outdoor space in summer.  It is also suitable for a marquee or a bouncy castle.  The lawn is approximately 15m wide at the hall end, reducing to 10m wide at the top end.  The length of the lawn is approximately 15m.  The area of the lawn is roughly 225m2.  The hardstanding area measures approximately 5m x 15m (L x W).

Barbecues - you are welcome to use your own barbecue in the Church House garden, but please do not place hot barbecues directly on the lawn.
